Dear Parent(s), This year your child will have the opportunity to increase his/her spelling ability at his/her own level. I will provide lists, which may remediate for some students while still challenging others. These lists will help expand their vocabulary while continuing to teach phonics and word structure. Each Friday your child will bring home a list of 20 words to study. Monday morning there will be a pre-test over these words. Students who receive a 90% or higher will receive the challenge list to study for Friday's final spelling test. Anyone scoring below a 90% will retake the regular list on Friday. I will record the higher of the two tests (pre or post). Every child will be required to write 2 dictation sentences on Friday. I hope your child will feel challenged but not overwhelmed.
