Answers
1)  Q Who can attend Lion Care?
A
Children from kindergarten through fifth grade and children attending the Early Childhood Center.
2)  Q How do I get my child registered?
A
Fill out a registration and enrollment form for each child, include a check for $15.00 per family and mail to the address provided on the registration form. Checks should be made out to “NWRI”. Both forms can be found on the district website under Parents; Current Parent; before and after school childcare.
3)  Q How long has before and after school child care been offered at Northwest?
A
Before and after school child care has been a part of the Northwest R-I School District for over 20 years. Prior to March 2005, the program was offered through the YMCA. Beginning in March 2005, Northwest began operating the program.
4)  Q What programs are available to assist my child?
A
Lion Care assist children with social interaction and homework in a fun, safe environment.
5)  Q What will my child do in Lion Care?
A
Our trained, caring, professional staff offer planned recreational enhancement activities focusing on fun, learning, and the development of a positive self-image.

7)  Q Does the program accept Division of Social Services (DSS) assistance?
A
Yes, we are approved for DSS.
8)  Q Can you tell me a little about the staff?
A
The staff has an average of 12 years of child care experience and live in the Northwest District. Many of our staff are Northwest alumni whose children attend or have graduated from Northwest. All of the staff are required to participate in extensive professional development in the child care field. Many of our staff have early childhood education college credit hours and some have college degrees.

Fees are based on 1-5 day rates.

  • There is a 10% discount for families with more than one child attending the Lion Care Program.
  • Employees of the Northwest R-I School District (parent/guardian) receive a maximum of 50% discount in fees.
  • Weekly fees are due by Friday pm prior to the week your child attends the program.
  • NO CREDIT is given for sick/absent days.
  • Fees are subject to change with notification.
