Identification

There are several steps to the identification process:
  • a screening procedure,
  • testing for reasoning and creativity,
  • testing for academic achievement,
  • a parent and teacher rating scale, and
  • administering an intelligence test.

Students identified by the screening process will be scheduled for one, two or all of the nationally normed achievement, creativity, and reasoning tests.  Upon meeting required components, the student will also be scheduled for an I.Q. test which is administered by specific school staff.  Each step has criteria which must be met that are recommended by the state guidelines for gifted education.
