Time for Flu Shots!
Northwest School District wants to help you get a flu shot. This year, we are partnering with Shop 'n Save and Walgreen's pharmacies to provide flu shots at several locations. The first will be on Friday, September 20, 10 am to 1:30 pm at Valley Middle School in the "old eighth grade" office near the flagpole. These shots are available for community members and students over age 12 and will be given by Shop n' Save pharmacists. Cost* is $24.99 if no insurance.
Shots will also be available at parent-teacher conferences, Oct. 16 & 17 at the middle and high schools. More details will be posted later.
Barnes-Jewish Hospitals also offer FREE Flu shots at various locations for people 6 months and older. Click this link to learn more:
Bottom line: get immunized! The more people who get immunized, the better! Herd immunity (yes, that's really what we call it!) protects those who are unable to get immunized. According to the CDC, only about 40% of eligible people received the vaccine last year! Afraid of needles? There's a nasal mist or the vaccine is also available with a very fine needle that's virtually painless. Money? *Most insurances cover it 100% with NO OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE. As a preventive service, it is not affected by a deductible. Questions? Just ask!
