The Superintendent of Schools for the Northwest R-I School District is Dr. Paul Ziegler. His career in education started at the Francis Howell School District in St. Charles County as a
special education teacher in 1992. In 1997, Dr. Ziegler came to the Northwest School District as an assistant principal at the high school. He decided to return to the Francis Howell School District in 1998 as an assistant principal at the middle school level. However, in 2000, Dr. Ziegler came back to the Northwest School District as a central office administrator by taking the position of Director of Administrative Services. In this position, Dr. Ziegler became very interested in school law. As a result, he earned his law degree and took a position with the law firm of Tueth, Keeney, Cooper, Mohan & Jackstadt, P.C. in 2004. In April 2006, Dr. Ziegler took the position of Interim Director for the Special Services Cooperative of Jefferson County. He was the Assistant Superintendent for Funds and Facilities for the Northwest School District beginning in July 2006. The Board of Education promoted Dr. Ziegler to the Superintendent of Schools in July 2007.
Dr. Ziegler earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees from Truman State University in Kirksville, MO. Dr. Ziegler earned his administration certification through Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO. He earned his Juris Doctorate (law degree), graduating cum laude, from St. Louis University and was admitted to both the Missouri and Illinois bars in 2005.
The Superintendent's office includes the following departments: Human Resources, Finance, Facilities, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Student Services, Information and Instructional Technology, Professional Development, and Substitute Services.
