Student Goals

Students are first in the Northwest R-I School District. This site has been developed to provide tips, aids, and resources to ensure that every one of our students succeed.  It also provides students with educational tools and resources to assist them  throughout their educational careers.

Students in the Northwest R-I School District gain valuable learning experience that will last a lifetime by having dedicated, enthusiast teachers who utilize innovative instructional methods to teach a strong, well-rounded curriculum.

Goal:  Develop and enhance quality educational and instructional programs to improve performance and enable students to meet their personal, academic and career goals.


 

Student Activities

Northwest offeres students the opportunity to participate in a wide variety both the school and community.  Students are encourage to talk with his/her teacher, counselor, and/or principal to find out more about the activities that are available and how to participate.  Below is a list of a few examples.  (NOTE:  This is not an all inclusive list.  There are many more activities available.)

  • National Honor Society & National Junior Honor Society
  • Fine Arts Programs (Band, Drama, Vocal Music, Show Choir)
  • Student Clubs (TREND, Pep Club, Hi-Step, FBLA, FCCLA)
  • Athletics
  • Intermurral Sports
  • Student Council 

Students also participate in a variety of service projects through the school year.  Some of the past service projects include:

  • Many students at House Springs Elementary school raise money to fight childhood cancer by having their heads shaved for the St. Baldrick's Foundation.
  • National Honor Society at Northwest High School collected and distributed toys to needy families.
  • Elementary schools honor military personnel (Veterans by providing breakfast and a program and activity personnel through the Adopt a Soldier program and writing letters).
  • Woodridge Middle School students collect items for the Our Ladies of Charity program.
  • Students district wide donated school supplies and other items to fill up the NHS Marching Band trailer for victims of the tornado in Joplin, MO
