Choose Our District

The Northwest R-I School District is one of the finest public school systems in Missouri. The District has a long-standing tradition of educational excellence with students consistently performing well on state and  national assessments.

The district demonstrates excellence by other measures including our strong parent support, high student attendance, a highly qualified staff, rigorous and coherent curricula in all areas, extra-curricular activities, multiple support programs for students, information technology, sound financial standing, and facilities.

The District is committed to performance excellence in all of its operations. Through strategic planning, the District has articulated its key goals, objectives, and action plans into the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP) document. It is future-focused, recognizing that the world is changing rapidly and those factors that brought us success in the past may not bring us success in the future. We are seeking to improve so that we can sustain our high quality performance.

We are proud of our history of educational excellence and our students, teachers, and staff in the Northwest R-I School District. We hope you enjoy this Web site and find it helpful to meet your communication needs as well as other needs.

Safety

Each school day, the Northwest R-I School District places the safety of its student and staff in the foreground of all we do. We emphasis respect for the rights and property of others.

Building Safety

Early Childhood and Elementary Schools: Each building has a monitored door security systems.  The doors to the school building remain locked during school hours.  No one is able to access the building without school personnel making visual/verbal contact.

Middle Schools: The buildings have a School Resource Officer (SRO) that monitors both sites.

High School:  The building has a security system which is monitored by a full-time security guard.  The high school also employees a School Resource Officer (SRO).

Transportation Safety

At Northwest, we take our transportation rules very seriously.  Here are a few such rules:

  • When it is necessary to cross the street, the driver will protect student crossing with the stoplights and stop arm.  Students are to cross under their supervision at least ten (10) feet in front of the bus.
  • No loud talking, laughing, or unnecessary conversation with the driver.
  • Keep head, arms, and hands inside the bus at all times. Refrain from yelling at passersby.
  • Obey the driver. Realize that their job is to transport you safely. Give them the same respect you give a classroom teacher.
  • The emergency door is to be used only in an emergency.
  • Radios, glass containers, and animals, including specimens, shall not be transported on the bus.
  • Smoking is prohibited on the bus.
  • Do not throw snowballs, rocks, or other objects at or from the bus.
  • No standing and moving around in the bus while it is in motion.

Northwest's primary goal is to educate each of its students in an individually appropriate manner within an environment of personal safety and mutual respect.
