Welcome to Computers Welcome to Mrs. Manion's computer classroom. I serve sixth, seventh and eighth grade students. At WMS, we have A days and B days. The sixth grade is on an A Day B Day schedule in computers. Which means I see them every other day. Seventh and eighth grade students I see everyday for a semester. In all classes we learn about different Microsoft programs, such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. This year students will be working with 2007, which is new to all grade levels. Students will evaluate various websites and work on research projects. They will learn how to navigate on the Smartboard and utilize Smart Notebook tools. Our internet safety and ethics unit will help your child understand how to use the internet wisely. The classes will explore Webquests, which will give your child the opportunity to work with other members of the class on projects. Finally, we will utilize scanners, digital cameras, and other types of multimedia throughout the year so your child can experience the world through technology. Students will receive a letter grade quarterly. This grade will be based on accuracy and speed in keyboaring, and completion of various projects throughout the year. Students who miss due to absences will be given time to make up work or given an alternative assignment to work on at home. I look forward to working with your child this year!!
